Usable in His Hands

"And don't forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God."
-Hebrews 13:16

This was the "daily" bible verse that the app on my phone gave me this morning. I contemplated it throughout the duration of my day. I remembered that although I am going to India in a month, my mission trip doesn't start or end there! My "mission field" is every single day, from the time I wake up until I go to sleep. Every day I need to remember that the day belongs to God, and that I need to remember Him and glorify him in everything that I do. What a great reminder! I need to stop looking to the future constantly, and remember to live in the present to become usable in God's hands for whatever he calls me to do.

I'm reading this book titled Dreaming with God by Bill Johnson (I highly recommend that you read it!!), and in one of the chapters titled "Invading Babylon," Johnson gives the notion that we are to invade every area of our society with Christ, be it education, media, churches, or businesses, we are to bring Christ into all of those areas! I was definitely convicted this week as I read that there is no such thing as a secular job, but once you have Christ in your heart, everything is sacred and holy, you are living a life after Him! So whether I am sitting in class, making phone calls at work, or hanging with friends, there is no such thing as a life that is secular and one that includes Christ. Every aspect of my life includes Jesus and I need to remember to wake up each day and give everything to Him for His glory! Every breath that I take, every beat of my heart, every word that I speak all belong to Him, so who am I to separate my life into two compartments, one of the world and one of God?! It was so convicting because so many times I don't think that I am serving God in my every day life, but only on a missions trip am I actually living my life for Him.

It was a great reminder that my life is to exemplify Christ DAILY! I need to pick up my cross and follow Him every morning that I wake up. So if you are reading this, I encourage you to follow the journey he has for you! You don't need to wait until you go somewhere incredible, like India, for him to use you... but in your every day He is with you and wants to use you in some way!
